BCM and Crisis Management Manuals
IMPLEMENTATION
Background
Our client saw the need to create two corporate resilience manuals: one for business continuity management (BCM), populating the existing business impact analysis (BIA) templates, and another for crisis management.
The main objective was to prepare the organisation for emergencies and crises and to provide clear instructions and processes in the event of an emergency.
Realisation
Firstly, we carried out an inspection and review of the existing documents. We began with a detailed review of all existing documents and guidelines relating to business continuity management and crisis management. This served to obtain a clear overview of the current status of the organisation.
The next step was to create the BCM manual. We developed a comprehensive BCM manual based on ISO22301ff and BSI Standard 200-4. We also took the customer’s specific requirements into account. The manual contained definitions for BIA and Business Continuity Planning (BCP), update cycles and the validation process.
In the next step, conducting business impact analyses (BIA), we conducted interviews with relevant departments to identify the organisation’s critical processes. The insights gained were used to create the BIA templates for these departments. In addition, we named contact persons for the specialist departments and provided process maps.
The subsequent creation of the crisis management handbook involved adapting the existing process description to the requirements of crisis management. We created a handbook based on ISO22301ff and BSI standard 200-4, also taking internal requirements into account.

Our services have contributed to the client now having clear business continuity management and crisis management handbooks that prepare the organisation to deal with emergencies and crises. The manuals provide precise definitions, processes and instructions to ensure the organisation’s resilience in times of crisis.
