Simulation of an emergency exercise for an international telecommunication company
Background
One customer commissioned us to organise a series of emergency team exercises to put all members of the emergency team in a simulated situation. The goal was to test how the emergency response team functions under realistic conditions. At the same time, decision-making and delegation in ad-hoc situations had to be practised.
Solution
In preparation for the exercise, our experts analysed all of the relevant documents and processes of our customer and developed a realistic concept for a scenario.
The realisation process started with the development of the exercise script based on the concept. For this purpose, 26 interlinked inserts were developed. Our script also specified the type of inserts (e.g. phone call or email) which will be used to create emails and prepare phone calls in advance. In addition to the actors, the external roles, which were simulated by the employees of 3-core GmbH, were also defined.
Once the script had been finalised, the exercise was carried out several times with different members of the emergency team.
Afterwards, the 3-core GmbH prepared a report that analysed the decisions and feedback from the staff. The notes taken by the exercise leader and the observers as well as the staff’s documentation were also included in the analysis. The exercise report provided a detailed overview of the process, identified strengths and weaknesses and made specific recommendations for optimising emergency management.
