Implementation of Business Continuity Management (BCM) to secure Critical Processes
Background
A logistics and trading company for consumer goods with specific EU requirements for Track & Trace commissioned 3-core GmbH with the complete introduction of a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS). The aim was to increase resilience to business interruptions and fulfil regulatory requirements.
A particular focus was placed on a process- and data-sensitive segment, the failure of which would have a direct impact on delivery capability, traceability and compliance. At the same time, all other business-critical business processes were to be analysed and secured.
Solution
The 3-core GmbH guided the project through all steps of the Business Continuity Management (BCM) implementation. This was based on close cooperation with various specialist departments, which were involved through interviews. This involved not only recording processes, but also analysing their dependencies on each other, resources and interfaces with external partners.
The implementation was carried out using the 3-core BCM tool, which maps all the key steps in accordance with BSI standards 200-4 and 200-3 – from process mapping, business impact analysis (BIA) and risk analysis through to the development of suitable continuity strategies. All data could be recorded and analysed directly in the tool and processed together with the specialist departments.
Our training and supporting measures ensured that employees were familiar with the new requirements. The results were documented and then presented to the stakeholders.
