Case Study Observation of crisis management exercises
Background
The client lacked an independent neutral observer for the planned crisis management exercises with various crisis management teams. As an expert in corporate resilience, 3-core was asked to take on the role of observer for the crisis team exercises.
Solution
Firstly, we familiarised ourselves with the exercise and its objectives in consultation with the crisis team leaders. As observers, we followed the crisis team’s work during the exercises. It was important for us to record any anomalies and potential for optimisation. Based on the points identified, we drew up a report with suggestions for optimisation and addressed the following areas:
- How do the procedures and processes in the crisis team work?
- How are the roles and their tasks defined?
- What objectives are set? How is the action plan drawn up?
- How do the crisis team members draw up the situation description and visualisation?
- How does co-operation within the crisis team work in the functions and with stakeholders?
Based on the report, we then drew up the basis for management decisions in order to organise future crisis team exercises more efficiently.
